Manual Traction Test: The resistance and fixation of the hair on the scalp can be tested by pulling the wires with the hands. If there is a fall, the hair loosens easily when pulled.
Detailed examination of the appearance, fixation, density of the hair and also of the scalp are fundamental for the diagnosis of the abnormality of the wires and the causes of hair loss. Are they:
Interrogation: The doctor asks questions about baldness in family history, habits (smoking, alcohol, stress …), history of the fall and its evolution, treatments performed among other information.
Inspection: Analysis of the scalp, the characteristics of the hair loss and changes in the hair.
Classification or type: It is the degree of evolution of baldness.
Palpation: Defines changes in elasticity and texture of the yarn surface.
Psychological analysis: Psychological disturbances can interfere with hair health: stress, depression, anxiety, psychosis, among others, are often associated with cases of hair loss.
Performed to evaluate alterations or pathologies of the scalp that may be related to hair loss. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and a scalp fragment is removed through a scalpel (punch) to be analyzed.
This test can detect changes in the patient’s biological cycle and can be used for the diagnosis and evolution of diseases that affect the hair. Through this examination, the doctor can choose the most appropriate treatment. The trichrome determines the number of hair, its density and quantifies the proportion of these at different stages of its growth. The digital trichogram, unlike the conventional method, is quick and painless. The hair is cut in a small area of 1cm2 and after 3 days the microscopic recording and analysis of the wires are done.
It is an examination made from a sample of hair, which is sent to the United States where the analysis is done. The data reveal possible excesses of heavy metals and deficiency of essential minerals in the body. Heavy metals each day are intoxicating us because of the consumption of contaminated food, abuse of excessively industrialized products and environmental exposure to these substances. Over time, these toxic substances accumulate in certain areas of the human body and are recorded on the hair strands.
During the consultation, Dr. João Carlos Pereira will listen to his history of hair loss, question him about the factors involved and examine his wires, the extent of his bald area and the quality of his donor area. Other resources used are: laboratory tests, tricoscan, mineralogram, tricogram and biopsy.
They can be requested during the hair consultation to detail or discover elements or pathologies involved in the process of hair loss.
