1 – Hospital
1.1 – The hospital
Hair transplant surgery is performed at JC Pereira Robotic Hair Transplant, located in São José do Rio Preto – SP.
1.2 – Consultation
During the consultation, which can be done a few days before or the day before surgery, Dr. João Carlos Pereira examines the entire condition of the patient: bald area size, baldness evolution, donor size and density, hair aspects ( Thin, thick, smooth, curly, light, dark), pattern of follicular structures and traces the surgery program, its extension and also makes prognosis of the number of sessions and final result.
2 – Preparation
2.1 – Hospitalization
Upon entering the JC Pereira Robotic Hair Transplant, the patient registers at the reception and is then taken to his / her apartment / suite for accommodation where he / she receives guidelines from the standard nurse. At the time of surgery, the patient is referred to the Surgical Center.
2.2 – Photographs
Before starting the surgery photos are taken in different positions as medical documentation and also for eventual comparisons later.
2.3 – Preparation for transplantation
The frontal line pen marking is calculated according to face dimension criteria, associated with the patient’s desire and the professional’s suggestion. Common sense is important in this decision so that there are no regrets in the future.
If necessary, the patient takes a sedative tablet to relieve the pre-surgical tension.
3 – Pre-surgical
3.1 – Surgical preparation
In the Surgical Center the patient is received by the anesthetist.
In the first phase of surgery the patient is seated (in the case of the robot) and upside down, resting on a suitable platform that seats the head well without disturbing the breath. The region of the scalp from which the donor area will be removed is scraped with electrical apparatus and then asepsis is performed to initiate anesthesia.
3.2 – Sedation and anesthesia
Transplant surgeries are performed with anesthesiologist to perform sedation and patient monitoring during the procedure. All medication is administered through the serum, avoiding unnecessary stings. Sedation causes drowsiness and, during surgery, the patient remains asleep superficially, but conscious. This provides comfort to the patient, which when he realizes, the surgery is over.
Anesthesia is local! The patient does not feel the anesthesia bites in the donor area and also in the recipient area (bald) because it is sedated.
3.3 – Monitoring
Throughout the procedure the anesthesiologist monitors the patient’s monitoring through the latest hospital equipment. Continuous electrocardiogram, oxygen rates, frequency meter, temperature and vital signs. These items are important differentials in terms of safety and surgical comfort.
4 – The Surgery
4.1 – Preparation of the donor area
The area to be surgically removed is marked with a surgical pen. The width and length of the segment to be removed depends on the elasticity of the scalp and the estimated amount of grafts that will be used in the transplant.
4.3 – Preparation of the grafts (seedlings)
The JC Pereira Robotic Hair Transplant Surgical Center has an exclusive room for the preparation of the grafts, equipped with cutting-edge microscopes for the separation of hair. Specialized nurses separate unit per follicular unit without traumatizing the root of the scalp segments removed from the donor area.
4.4 – Preparation of the receiving area (bald)
The bald area is anesthetized and then receives microperforations in the thousands, where the previously prepared grafts will be implanted. These microperforations are performed with needles developed for this purpose, which prevent posterior scars on the skin, at the foot of the hair.
4.5 – Placement of the grafts
When the grafts are ready, they are placed in the bald area. Two teams work simultaneously: one in the preparation of the grafts and another in the placement of the grafts. There are seven to eight professionals directly involved in the procedure. Through special tweezers, the grafts are inserted delicately, one by one, into each hole by Dr. João Carlos Pereira and his assistant, also a physician, assisted by two nurses.
Yarn design and positioning are strategic. They should provide a natural result according to the hairstyle conditions and the hair type. In the anterior line or frontal border, only follicular units with a hair are placed. The result is a true state-of-art of naturalness.
5 – Recovery
5.1 – Dressing
After the surgery, the patient is transferred from the surgical center to the apartment or suite where he will spend the night to recover. During this period a nurse is on duty to attend to the patient’s needs. The next morning the bandage is removed and the hair is washed.
